2012 HTCIA International Conference & Training Expo PDF Print E-mail
Written by Barry Kuang

Good Morning Everyone,

Just wanted to put this out there -

If possible you really should make it to the Annual HTCIA conference
in Hershey this year, I highly recommend it. This years conference is
shaping up to be the biggest and best yet in terms of technical
training, lectures, networking opportunities and some fun.

Just a few things that caught my eye - $2000 dollars worth of free
software for a start!
There are 18 hands on labs that will be presented by the best in the
industry! Lectures on Wi-Fi Investigations, Digital Forensics and the
Cloud, and Trend Micro on Data Exfiltration - and many more! The
networking and mingling opportunities at the annual conference are
always very very good, so you should definitely make plans to go if
you can.

If you've never been there, Hershey is in an absolutely beautiful part
of Pennsylvania, 25 minutes from Harrisburg and 2 hrs west of
Philadelphia in the midst of gorgeous Pennsylvania Dutch Country.
There'll be no boring down time either, as HTCIA has a great comedian
lined up during the banquet, and then there’s Casino night
co-sponsored by CelleBrite and the Northeast Chapter, as well as the
2nd annual HTCIA golf tournament. The Hershey Lodge & Resort is
definitely no slouch either: http://www.hersheylodge.com/

And last but not least of course, we'll be right at Hershey park
itself, which is a really great theme park with one of the best roller
coasters in the country - the Great Bear (a legs free coaster termed
an "Aggressive Thrill" ride!). http://www.hersheypark.com/

You won't regret being at this one, and HTCIA Ontario Chapter really
ought to make a good showing this year, I hope to see everyone there!

Oh, and by the way – I just found out that all registrants will
eligible to win one of FIVE grand prizes which will be given out at
the conference--Complimentary Registration to the 2013 HTCIA
Conference AND a $500 travel voucher. Talk about incentive to attend
this year!

Best Regards,

2012 HTCIA Ontario Chapter Executive Committee

Blackbag Technologies - Macintosh Forensic Primary Analysis Course (October 1-5, 2012) in Waterloo, Ontario PDF Print E-mail
Written by Barry Kuang
Saturday, 21 July 2012 15:23

Good Afternoon Everyone,

I hope everyone is having a great summer.

We are pleased to announce that we are hosting an upcoming course focused on Mac Forensics by Blackbag Technologies. The Training will be hosted in our training facility located at 200 Maple Grove Road in Cambridge, Ontario. This will be the first time that Blackbag Technologies have instructed in Canada, outside of the Canadian Police College, in Ottawa.   This will be a great opportunity for any HTCIA member who are not a part of Law Enforcement to receive some great training, as the Waterloo Regional Police Service will be opening its doors to all HTCIA members including the private and corporate sector.

This course will provide the necessary Mac alternatives to forensic analysts already familiar with Windows OS analysis. Students will gain an understanding of how to conduct a complete forensic analysis on a Mac. Focusing on analysis and reporting, this class will provide scenario and lecture instruction which will help students better understand how suspects use and store files on their Macs. Students learn through a combination of course instruction and hands on practical case studies.

Cost:  This course is open to both law enforcement and private sector personnel. The standard price for the course is $2700, with a discounted rate for government officials available at $2300.

The course duration is 4.5 days: Monday - Thursday from 9a - 5p, and Friday from 9A - 1P.
