Everyone is invited to be there.

Our speakers are:

Speaker 1 - Eugene Silva - Detective Sergeant at Waterloo Regional Police Service

Presentation Topic: Autopsy 3 - Windows based, easy to use and hey the best part it is free! It's no longer your Father's open source software!
Autopsy 3 is the premier digital forensics platform and graphical interface to "The Sleuth Kit" and other digital forensics tools. It can be used by law enforcement, military, and corporate examiners to investigate what happened on a computer. It has been built by Basis Technology and other members of the open source digital forensics community to be easy to use, fast and extensible.

About the Speaker
Eugene Silva has been a member of the Waterloo Regional Police Service for over 22 years, where he is currently assigned as a Sergeant with the Technological Crimes Unit.   During his tenure within the Technological Crimes Unit, Eugene has been involved in over 1000 investigations, including such complex investigations as homicides, counterfeiting, drugs, guns & gangs, child pornography, Internet child luring, domestics and sexual assaults, just to name a few.  He is an active member of the High Tech Crime Investigators Association and currently serves as our 2nd VP.   He is committed to ongoing learning and training to stay on the cusp of emerging technologies.

Speaker 2  - Ben Whittaker - Senior Forensic Examiner, Rogers Communication Inc

Presentation Topic: Demo and Discussion forensic software -volatility
The Volatility Framework is a completely open collection of tools, implemented in Python under the GNU General Public License, for the extraction of digital artifacts from volatile memory (RAM) samples. The extraction techniques are performed completely independent of the system being investigated but offer unprecedented visibility into the runtime state of the system. The framework is intended to introduce people to the techniques and complexities associated with extracting digital artifacts from volatile memory samples and provide a platform for further work into this exciting area of research. The Volatility Framework demonstrates our commitment to and belief in the importance of open source digital investigation tools .

About the Speaker
Ben has a long history in IT with a current focus on Forensics and IT Security. He has experience with large and small clients with the ability to understand how security can benefit their organizations.
