NOTE: Members will require photo ID to sign in.

Everyone is invited to be there.

Our speakers are:

Speaker 1 - Ron McLeod, MCSc,CEO and CTO of Select Technology Corporation

Presentation Topic: Introduction to Network Traffic Capture and Analysis using Flow Data This presentation is intended as an overview of the entire practice of capturing and interpreting network flow data. The goal is to demonstrate approaches and procedures that will lead to an effective flow capture and monitoring program for use in network forensics and incident response.  Network flow data is the first choice of the network analyst when attempting to gain awareness of a network‘s overall behaviour.  Flow data may be used to locate and respond to intruders and attackers. Flow level monitoring requires much less time and resource commitment than full packet capture and often leads directly to the evidence needed to respond to a threat. A basic knowledge of networking is required as a prerequisite.

About the Speaker

Ron McLeod, MCSc.   Ron is currently the CEO and CTO of Select Technology Corporation which is conducting research and development into a new generation of network traffic monitoring systems. Ron is also the immediate past President of the HTCIA Atlantic Canada Chapter. He has worked in various information technology capacities for the previous 25 years and has for the last several years been consulting, training and researching in the area of network and information systems security.  He is currently pursuing his PhD in the area of network traffic profiling.

Speaker 2  - Cst. Bruce Hunter, Guelph Police Service, Technological Crimes Unit

About the Speaker

Bruce Hunter is a member of the Guelph Police Service (27 years split between Toronto and Guelph) Technological Crimes Unit.  He has been teaching with BlackBag for some time now.  Worked in a variety of roles in Policing during this past 27 years and is a past secretary of the HTCIA Ontario Chapter.

Presentation Topic: iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch device popularity has introduced unique forensics and corporate policy enforcement challenges. Examiners must understand the attributes and file types unique to Mac OS X and iOS file systems. If your casework involves examining geo-location and EXIF camera metadata, evidence of device wiping, or SMS, contacts, and phone call data marked for deletion in SQLite databases, then this presentation is a must see. Attendees will gain valuable insight into the ever-evolving forensics challenges associated with iOS devices, and learn ways to conduct highly efficient and effective Mac OS X and iOS device investigations.

We hope to see you there in person from 7 to 9 p.m. If you cannot make the meeting but have some time available, we invite you to consider “attending” the meeting using the GoToMeeting conference facility - read on for instructions.

Sincerely,
